The 28th Nonsan Strawberry Festival, South Korea’s premier celebration of its most beloved berry, concluded on March 29 with a historic turnout of 670,000 visitors. Over the course of four days, the event transformed Nonsan—widely recognized as the "Strawberry Capital of Korea"—into a vibrant hub of agricultural innovation and tourism, generating 1.52 billion won in revenue with over 150 tons of strawberries sold.
As the center of Korea’s strawberry production, Nonsan has been the driving force behind the "K-strawberry" phenomenon. The festival served as a powerful showcase for why Nonsan strawberries are regarded as a global premium brand, known for their superior sweetness, firm texture, and advanced cultivation methods. This year, the city reaffirmed its commitment to elevating these local berries into a top-tier international commodity, targeting elite global markets.

The event’s appeal to a younger, international demographic was a standout feature. Moving beyond traditional farming exhibitions, the festival integrated high-tech smart farming halls and luxury strawberry-themed dessert boutiques. From helicopter tours to hands-on agricultural workshops, the diverse programming highlighted the dynamic lifestyle brand that Nonsan strawberries have become. The immense popularity of the festival's official character merchandise, which sold out almost immediately, further demonstrated the strong consumer loyalty and branding power of the region.
Global interest was palpable as international visitors and corporate representatives from over ten major industries attended the festivities. For many, the event was a preview of the upcoming the 2027 International Strawberry Industry Expo in Nonsan to be hosted in Nonsan. The success of this "pre-expo" event proved that Nonsan is not only a production powerhouse but also a global leader in agricultural technology and visitor management.
With its strategic focus on smart farming and premium branding, the Nonsan Strawberry Festival is no longer just a regional holiday; it is a critical platform for the international strawberry industry. As Nonsan continues to sharpen its competitive edge, it is setting the gold standard for how traditional agriculture can evolve into a world-class cultural and economic powerhouse.
